Please note; the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples is adopted by the General Assembly but has no direct legal effect. However, it carries with it "a strong expectation that Members of the international community will abide by it" (Report of the Commission on Human Rights, E/3616/Rev. l, para. 105).
